Story and context

60 x 60 cm (5 cm depth) Chinese intangible cultural heritage lacquerware

This beautiful Lacquerware "Peony" was created by Sichuan Lacqerware Professor and mentor to many who follow the traditional practice; He San Guo. He was a good friend of Canadian Artist Matt Vegh and the two artists exchanged their works several times.

He San Guo was born in 1966. His ancestral home is Tongchuan, Dazhou, but he lived and worked in and around Chengdu. He tragically passed away several years ago.

He is the former Chief of the Three Kingdoms Lacquer Art Workshop in Sichuan; a Sichuan University, National Arts Fund, Lacquerware Project member; former Director, Master Painter's Studio, Chengdu Institute of Technology and; Deputy Secretary-General of the Tianfu Art Gallery, Sichuan Province Association of Professors.

His works have been collected and praised by people from all walks of life.
