Story and context
48 x 68 cm oil and metallic acrylics on a cutter board
Memories of Thunder Bay was a back patio experimental piece Matt Vegh made on a multi-layered cutter board. People who know the back patio at Matt Vegh's Qingyang studio gallery, where he was eventually forced out due to a catastrophic flood in the lower level, know that this is where he went wild and made some of his most impressive works, such as the Black Shard, Golden Leaves on the Pond and Ballroom Dancers. This piece was not one of the casualties of the flood and made it over to the temporary studio where Matt developed the Zodiac Legacy Collection. It was collected by a young lady from South Africa during a studio visit.
