Story and context
The real-time stage system my three-person team and I built: clean stems in, audio-reactive graphics out, under 40 milliseconds or it gets cut. TouchDesigner, Unreal Engine, motion capture, a digital twin.
We built it because every off-the-shelf visualiser made the screen throb like a media player from 2005. Now the kick displaces the virtual room, the snare triggers geometry, and my vocal pitch shifts the light temperature. It took most of a year to get tracking drift and latency down to something that does not make me seasick on stage.
Rule number one, written on the studio wall: the tech serves the song, or it goes.
