Story and context

48 x 38 cm oil and metallic acrylics on ink wash paper fused to live-edge slab with hand-carved relief medallion

The Live Edge Golden Moose is one of 3 Live Edge pieces Matt Vegh painted while staying at his sister's countryside home in Oxford County in Southwestern Ontario during a mixed business and family trip to Canada in the fall of 2026. Normally, Matt would fuse these types of works to a canvas board or birch panel, but his brother-in-law showed him his stock of live-edge slabs and so Matt decided to use three of them to create some new versions of his Canada Wildlife Series. The Golden Moose was Matt Vegh's 104th artist exchange, in this case with Canadian landscape artist Graham McGregor.
