Story and context
50 x 50 oil and metallic acrylics on inkwash paper fused to panel with overlayer of oil and metallic acrylic, hand-layered Xuan paper Mosaic tiles and a hand-carved relief Medallion, one of only three allowed by the Jinsha Museum
This is perhaps one of Matt Vegh's most important works of art to date and is officially sanctioned by the Jinsha Museum and the Sichuan Cultural Relics Bureau to make use of the Jinsha Golden Sunbird, an image protected as a symbol of China's intangible cultural heritage. It was first exhibited during Chinese Spring Festival in 2026 at Matt Vegh's Zodiac Legacy: The Horse Reigns Exhibition, held at the luxurious 5 Star Mu Mian International Award Winning Boutique Hotel. It is not currently for sale as any potential sale must be approved by the Museum with a 30 day notice and Matt Vegh has not decided if he will even sell such a piece until an appropriate opportunity arises in the future or perhaps the piece will eventually go into the Museum's permanent collection, which is undetermined at this time. Those wishing to make serious inquiries may contact the artist.
