Story and context
64 x 64 cm Oil and metallic acrylics on ink wash paper fused to canvas board (16 individual 15 x 15 cm layered Mosaic tiles)
The mother canvas from which this large format Mosaic was originally painted in the back patio area by Matt Vegh in 2022 in his QingYang Studio in the West of Chengdu. This is significant because this area was where Matt really got experimental with his works. Think Gold Dust, blown metallic acrylics, layered into tactile impasto oils. This piece originally was intended to be a much larger work, but in the end it was decided to hand select, hand cut, hand trim and hand lay 16 beautiful layered tiles and create this work of art from it. It was purchased by a collector in Chengdu as a gift for his daughter.
Rights or provenance
created by Matt Vegh and now in a private collection in Chengdu, China
