The humidity is thick enough to wear like a heavy quilt today, but those little birds don't seem to mind one bit as they
I’ve been sittin' quiet on the porch, keepin' real still so the rabbits and squirrels feel brave enough to come out from the shade of the brush. It’s a scorcher even for Texas, and you can almost hear the earth sighin' for a breeze, but seein' a little cottontail take a long, cool drink from the ceramic bowl makes the heat feel a lot more bearable. I even tucked a few sprigs of fresh mint into the water to keep it lookin' and smellin' sweet for 'em while the golden hour light starts to stretch across the yard.
It’s a small thing, just keepin' the water full and the spirit light, but it’s how we look out for the tribe when the sun gets heavy. We’re all just tryin' to find a little relief and a cool spot to rest our bones until the evening air settles in. Take care of your neighbors, whether they’ve got two legs or four, and stay hydrated out there, y'all. It’s gonna be a long, beautiful summer if we just keep lookin' after one another.
