Wednesday morning began early on the trail through Amelisweerd. My legs felt heavy during the first kilometer, yet the steady cadence of running through the damp autumn air soon cleared my head.
When I reached the bend where the Kromme Rijn narrows, the low sun met a pocket of river mist. The willows along the opposite bank softened into pale silhouettes. Across the dark surface of the water, the morning created something remarkable.
A Current Made of Tone
The water broke the sunrise into long ribbons of ochre and cool silver. Sharp tree lines disappeared into a true Dutch lichtspel, stripped of harsh edges. Form gave way entirely to motion, drifting steadily toward Utrecht.
Luno nearly lost his footing on the slick oak roots trying to pause and watch. My mood shifted from early fatigue to quiet clarity.
There is a peaceful honesty in watching nature simplify itself on an October morning. I brought that warm, drifting rhythm back with me to the studio.
