Story and context
52x62 cm - Oil and metallic acrylics on board
Golden Leaves on the Pond was created from what artist Matt Vegh calls a base plate. He uses base plates for creating stock sheets for his mosaic projects and when this particular base plate was tired from all of that repeated layering work, he applied the finishing strokes with his palette knife and submerged it in that royal blue sheen, with only the peaks of Gold impasto left showing.
It only hung in his Chengdu studio gallery for 7 days and was sold for $7,000 USD equivalent, to a collector originally from Chengdu, but who has now taken it to Malaysia, where it now resides as of 2026.
Rights or provenance
created in Chengdu and sold to a private collector from Chengdu who has moved to Malaysia.
