Story and context

5 x 12 cm miniature abstract oil and metallic acrylics on inkwash paper fused to cardstock

Matt Vegh's miniature abstract series was born out of his Mosaic series as he experimented with different-sized Mosaic tiles. His plan is to eventually hold an exhibition with over 10,000 individual miniature paintings in one show. This plan is constantly interrupted by his use of those tiles in his current practice, as he dips into the supply of miniatures to complete orders for clients on larger Mosaic paintings such as the Dragon Storm Nine or the Tenochtitlans 10. There are approximately 4,000+ miniature abstract paintings in the storage units at his Chengdu Studio Gallery and he adds to those totals when he can. Some day, he will unleash them at an incredible show for a solo grind artist. The Chinese landscape featured here is but one of the 4000+ miniature abstract paintings waiting for the right moment.
