Story and context

Two 30 x 40 cm oil and metallic acrylics (one mother canvas and one ink wash fused to canvas)

The mirror image paintings called The Embrance are an example of Matt Vegh's earliest mirror image works, but these ones here are special because they show when he began using metallic acrylics in his paintings. You will see that his early mirror image pieces were oil only, but these two include that metallic bronze sheen: a clear indicator of the upgraded methodology. They first appeared in a public exhibition at Matt Vegh's Yanlord Plaza UGallery Exhibition in downtown Chengdu in January 2019. He did not sell them until 2021 because he intended to keep them. However, the collector bought 8 of his works in one studio visit and asked to buy something extra special. It was hard to say no.
