30 x 30 oil on ink wash paper fused to hand-stretched canvas with a real Canadian Postage Stamp Embedded on its surface
This is one of the very first of Matt Vegh's experimental "Postage Stamp" inspired pieces from his earliest days of painting in 2015 and the piece was featured at his debut group international exhibition at the WM Art Gallery in the Atrium at the prestigious Tae Koo Li in Chengdu, along with several others in the series. Not many of them survived the embedding process, but this stamp remains vivid in color and indeed matches the title of the painting, Copper Mine River, a 1971 Canadian 6 Cent Postage Stamp. It resides in Matt Vegh's Main Collection in his Chengdu Studio Gallery as a cornerstone historical and foundational piece of his art trajectory.
